Fur is one of the most expensive materials used by transatlantic designers. Therefore its structure has to be well kept: fur must look as a real fur, not as silk velvet, lace or something else. Natural mink of different colours, all types of foxes, sable are used most often. In general, the fur part of a collection is being realized in a natural range of colours, everything is stylish and functional. A slight toning of furs in enfeebled tints of red, olive-green, and ink-coloured. There is a lot of "soft gold" of the highest standard in the women's collection by Chado Ralph Rucci. It includes sable, chinchilla, and karakulcha. Oscar de la Renta has used sable to make trimmings, but the main accent was made on a golden cross fox. Marc Jacobs has demonstrated different kinds of fur in trimmings, headwear, jackets, and unusual details. Michael Kors has chosen a black North-American mink and Arctic fox fur to make trimmings. Carolina Hererra has decorated the overcoats, dresses and suits with "bulky" cuffs and collars, made of silver fox. Peter Som has shown a lot of short straight overcoats sewn of a natural mink fur of various colours. J. Mendel has applied sable and fox furs for trimmings, natural mink for classical overcoats, but the tenderest grey karakulcha was the best to be chosen for a tight jacket and a skimpy coat.
